Barbaros Hayreddin Episode Summary
In Barbaros Hayreddin Episode 1, While Khizir is praying at Oruj’s tomb, Piri arrives. Piri says he talked to the Ottoman Sultan and asks Khizir to take action. Khizir says he will take revenge of the Turks no matter what. Piri says there may be a traitor among the sailors. Don Diego takes action to attack Algeria. Huma is very sad about the death of Ilyas and Oruj. Murat remembers what Oruj did and says he will avenge his friend. Dervish calms everyone down and says Khizir will be the new leader. Murat then goes to the port and tries to talk to Oruj’s sailors. Bulbul blames himself for Oruj’s death and says he will commit suicide. Khizir stops Bulbul and says he is innocent. Bulbul starts crying and says he will work for Khizir now.
Don Diego attacks Algeria with his soldiers and soon begins to control the city. Khizir talks to Oruj’s sailors and persuades them to take revenge. Don Diego seizes Oruj’s throne and sends many innocent people to prison. Khizir learns what Don Diego did in Algeria. Piri realizes that several merchants have betrayed Oruj and even helped Don Diego. Khizir asks Piri to stay in Jijel and prepares to go to Algeria. Don Diego thinks he will regain the support of the King of Spain and starts making plans to get Jijel back. As Khizir is about to attack Algiers, Don Diego stops him. Don Diego says he will kill innocent people if Khizir attacks the city. Khizir cancels the attack plan to avoid harm to innocent people. Don Diego asks Khizir to return Jijel.
Khizir says he will never give Jijel back and comes back to make another plan. Dervish goes to talk to Piri and starts asking him questions. Piri says that Khizir will take Algeria no matter what and that Yavuz Sultan Selim conquered the holy lands. Don Diego tortures the people who support Khizir in the dungeon and tries to change their minds. Don Diego says that the King’s fleet will arrive soon and will attack Jijel with new soldiers. The sailors ask Khizir to attack Algeria. Khizir says he wants to make a new plan and tries to calm the sailors. Dervish then goes to Oruj’s tomb and begins to pray for him. Don Diego sees Dervish and starts talking to him. Dervish says he is not afraid of anyone but Allah.
Don Diego thinks Dervish is crazy and gives up on killing him. Khizir secretly goes to Algeria with some sailors and tries to save innocent people. Don Diego realizes that the people still support Khizir and continues to wait for the King’s fleet. Rosa says she wants to go to the oncoming fleet and asks Don Diego for permission to launch a naval attack. While Khizir tries to find out where the innocent people are, he learns from Piri that the King’s ships are coming soon. Khizir realizes that Don Diego will attack Jijel soon and says he has to act immediately. Khizir asks Piri to save innocent people and sets out to sea to stop the King’s ships. Don Diego learns that Selim has seized the holy land and thinks that he will soon attack Egypt. Don Diego says Turks may have control of all of the Mediterranean soon. Rosa says she will destroy the Turks in the Mediterranean no matter what and sets out to talk to the captain of the fleet.
Khizir says he will only work for the Ottoman Empire before he goes to sea. Rosa goes to talk to the captain the next day and begins to tell him about Don Diego’s plan of attack. The captain accepts this plan and starts moving towards Jijel with all his ships. Murat says that the king’s fleet is very large and asks what the attack plan is. Khizir says they will be silent until they approach the enemy ships and then they will attack suddenly. Don Diego thinks that the fleet will attack Jijel soon and orders his soldiers to prepare to launch the ground attack. The captain sees that Don Diego’s ships are approaching and is overjoyed. Rosa warns the captain and tells that the oncoming ships belong to Khizir. The captain of the fleet orders all his ships to attack.
Rosa says it’s too late for everything. Meanwhile, Khizir begins to attack with all his might. In a short time, most of the King’s fleet is destroyed. Rosa wants to attack the Turkish ships, but the captain says they have to escape immediately. Piri locates the innocent people and kills the guards there. Khizir captures the captain’s ship and kills him before he explodes the ship. Rosa catches Khizir and says she will kill him. Murat sees that Rosa will kill Khizir and shoots her to save his friend’s life. Piri saves the innocent people and executes the merchants who betrayed Oruj. As Don Diego is on his way to Jijel, he learns that he got a gift. Don Diego goes to the courtyard and removes the cover from the carriage. Don Diego sees Rosa’s lifeless body and realizes that Khizir killed her.
Khizir comes to Algeria while Don Diego says he will avenge Rosa. Khizir says he will avenge all the martyred Turks and challenges Don Diego to a duel. Don Diego accepts this offer and starts fighting with Khizir at the yard. Dervish and Huma try to help the innocent people rescued by Piri. Khizir first injures Don Diego and then publicly executes him. Khizir says he has avenged everyone and regained control of Algeria. All the people are very happy about this situation and start to support Khizir again. Khizir sits on Oruj’s throne. Murat says that Khizir will have more enemies now. Piri says that Yavuz Sultan Selim congratulates Khizir and gives him an Ottoman flag. Khizir kisses this flag and hangs it on the wall. Khizir declares that Algeria now belongs to the Ottoman Empire forever.
