After watching the overwhelming series of “Resurrection Dirilis Ertugrul”, people became fans of the Ottomans’ history, its real characters as well as the celebrities portraying these characters. The celebrity who achieved huge fame is Engine Altan Duzytan who was portraying the leading role of Ertugrul Ghazi, leader of the Kayi Tribe. After this series, fans were waiting for something more exciting series about the Ottoman Empire. Mehmet Bozdag solved the situation and brought the news of a new season “Kurulus Osman” which will be on-air on ATV Channel in Turkish. Resurrection Dirilis Ertugrul Overview
At the beginning of the 13th century, Byzantines were facing the decline after being defeated by the Seljuks in the Battle of Manzikert and the Mongols were at their extent. The Mongols turned down every part of the world where they moved. They made history in the world of cruelty and ferocity. Later, the Mongol Empire diminished because of their own great warrior Berke Khan, who embraced Islam. During that time, Mongols invaded the Khwarazmian Empire and tor it into pieces. The tribes residing there started migrating towards other areas. One of them was the Kayi Tribe, which was relatively larger and stronger. Suleiman Shah was leader of the Kayi Tribe. While on their way to Syria, Suleiman Shah drowned in the Euphrates River and couldn’t survive. Suleiman Shah had four sons, Sungurtakun Bey, Gundugdu Bey, Ertugrul Bey, and Dundar Bey. Ertugrul Bey became the next leader of the Kayi Tribe.

Ertugrul Ghazi taking 420 families along with him, entered the Seljuk Empire. Sultan Alaeddin Kayqubad I was the Seljuk Sultan at that time. On their way to Konya, they intentionally supported a weak army and became the reason for their victory. Later, it was revealed that the army was from the Seljuk Empire after which Sultan Alaeddin Kayqubad I got impressed and gave the area of Karaca Dağ near Ankara for his tribe. Ertugrul became famous because of his valor and bravery. Soon they were also allotted the Sogut city. Because of their victories, a lot of other Turkish tribes joined him and selected Ertugrul Ghazi as their chief. Sultan Alaeddin Kayqubad I couldn’t notice the increasing power of Etugrul Ghazi because he was indulged in overcoming the rebellions as the Seljuk Empire was at its decline.
Sultan Alaeddin Kayqubad I was worried because his leaders were establishing their own autonomous governments, the borders were under attacks by the Byzantines and a lot of areas of the Seljuk Empire were occupied by the Mongols. So, in this situation, he rewarded Ertugrul Ghazi and made him commander of his front-line army as he defeated the mutual host of Byzantines and Mongols. He also awarded him some other area and Ertugrul named this vast area consisting of castles, pastures, and fertile lands as “Sultanooni”. But stubborn leaders were occupying these areas. Ertugrul Ghazi and later his son Osman Ghazi had to fight to have full control of the state. According to history, Ertugrul Ghazi died in 1281 CE and buried in Sogut. Ertugrul Ghazi had four sons. Osman Ghazi, the youngest one, became his successor.

Kurulus Osman First Episode with English Subtitles
Ertugrul Ghazi provided a firm base for the foundation of the Ottoman Empire. Ertugrul fought with valor and bravery with the stubborn leaders to have full control of the state. During this period, Osman Ghazi was given religious as well as worldly education. Osman Ghazi became attached to a famous scholar of that time named Sheikh Edebali. Osman Ghazi used to visit Sheikh Edebali often time. Once Osman Ghazi dreamed of a tree, four rivers, and a crescent of light coming out of Sheikh Edebali and entering into his chest while he was sleeping at Sheikh Edebali’s dargah. After knowing about the dream, Sheikh Edebali was much happy and told him about the establishment of the Ottoman Empire and also that your children will rule the whole world. Sheikh Edebali also married her daughter Malhun Hatun to Osman Ghazi. He also advised Osman Ghazi about the dream as we have also seen in the first teaser of Kurulus Osman. This also means that Sheikh Edebali will be seen advising and guiding Osman Ghazi in the establishment phase just like Ibn-e-Arabi did to Ertugrul Ghazi in preparing the base of the Ottoman Empire.
Kurulus Osman season will be covering the remaining story about how Osman Ghazi turned this dream into reality and how he established such an Empire that lasted for more than six centuries. Some of the characters which have been confirmed are Burak Ozcivit (portraying Osman Ghazi), Aslihan Karalar (portraying Malhun Hatun), Nurettin Sönmez (portraying Bamsi Beyrek), Ragip Savas (portraying Dundar Bey), Aysegul Gunay (portraying Osman’s aunt as wife of Dundar Bey), and Celal Al (portraying Abdur Rahman Alp).
